Coming on the Great Hudson

The Williams are from Wiltshire, England. George Williams and his wife, Harriet Sumbler and their family traveled to the United States in 1864. According to George's history, they came over on the ship "Great Hudson" and then took at train to Council Bluffs, Iowa and then crossed the plains to Utah. They first stayed in Sugarhouse (in Salt Lake Valley), but then moved to Brigham City where George was needed (as a stone mason) to work on the Tabernacle in Brigham City.
